Eat Your Hearts Out, Vegan House!

Grant lives in this house. It's a Vegan House near UT Austin, a sort of unsanctioned dorm. No meat or dairy at all allowed in the House. Grant is not vegan, but lived there for the cheap rent and month to month lease, and for just about $500 you get rent and a stocked kitchen (with boring vegan food) and like 2 meals a day cooked for you. This place has 4 refrigerators and a giant dining table for all 17 residents. Well Grant and Ian got in big trouble for bringing Taco Bell into the house a few weeks ago. So we took the arm (as well as all our plaid shirts- totally unplanned) and went to Stubbs BBQ for a wonderfully meaty meal of ribs and brisket, heard all about the ridiculous and hilarious culture of living in the vegan house, which is essentially a commune of people who take themselves way too seriously. Grant told lots of great stories about house meetings, sometimes involving 20 minute long debates on allocating $20 of that weeks grocery budget on new spatulas and sponges, and the universal symbols for approving or disapproving such motions made in the meetings, which are basically upwards jazz fingers for "yay" and downward jazz fingers for "nay". (If you aren't familiar, jazz fingers are wildly wiggling fingers. Jazz fingers are gold).
