That's a Big Fish, Betty

Fish dinner at Canele in Atwater Village with Betty Banker before the 10:00 Ira Glass show at UCLA! Oh man, both were such a treat. We spoiled ourselves with polenta and chantarelles with a fried egg on top to start, she had the branzino and I had the halibut, we even ordered a bottle of Sancerre, my very favorite wine in the world. As far as the show, I am even more in love with Ira after hearing him talk for almost 3 hours live- his voice is like so amazing and I can't get enough of his energy, his stories and his giggles.

Comfy Cozy Curl it Up

These weekends have been all about glorious rest, and tweaking the placement of items in my house. Above is one of the two gold, brown and pink pillows I made for Nemo and Rachel's wedding, and have been too lazy to mail. I know, it's shameful- they're coming guys, I figured I may as well just show you what they look like.. the backs are kind of a deep green. Of course I had to put the beloved pom poms on too. Hopefully the baby won't throw up on them or anything. Speaking of which, baby Scout was due yesterday! Where is he/she?

Ramona the Best!

Ramona is packing on the ounces and eating like a champ, and already has quite an amazing roster of girlfriends who love her. Lucky girls, all of us! Love holdin' that sleepy Hanburger baby.

Inhale, Exhale

I love my house in the early evening, the breeze and the light through the
home made curtains.

Change Up the Linens

Ah. Crisp clean sheets. It really doesn't get better than that.

Lighten Up

Today, my genius colorist Erica pulled off the most amazing combination of brown and blonde... she got me exactly to the happy medium I have been trying to be in, where I still feel blonde but can let my true hair grow out and get healthier. Yay! In other news, it's an incredibly gorgeous day in Los Angeles. And I am going to see IRA GLASS tonight! I wonder if he will want to marry me.

Bulge is the New Black

On Tuesday I purchased a scale for $7 and a pair of (bigger than normal) jeans for $80. Yes, a special pair of jeans since I cannot fit into any of my pants right now, let alone any of my clothes. I have gained over 20 lbs in one year, and shopping for clothes I like has become searching for anything that will not look like a complete abomination on my body. And I love my friends for telling me I am beautiful just how I am, and even for telling me they understand, and their clothes don't fit either.. only thing is most of them are pregnant so at least they have an excuse. I am even getting that fat back and bra-strap thing. And, while I am just complaining like crazy can I also say how inconvenient boobs are? Like, these things are out of control! Get the fuck out of my way, boobs! Quit getting bigger, puberty was over half my life ago! Quit ruining all my outfits! Quit busting buttons of my shirts and dresses! Go to hell! Sigh.. I wish I was an A. Remember when you were younger and you actually couldn't wait to get boobs? Well no one told you back then what a scam it would end up being, and that every cute dress you would try on in 2010 would be designed for a virtually breastless woman. Oh man, I'm sorry. You probably think I am being crazy and vain and self indulgent.. You're thinking this wolf needs an attitude adjustment. I just feel so exhausted these past few weeks, overworked and unhappy, and not having anything to wear because none of my clothes fit is making everything feel way worse. Like I can't even wear my cute clothes while I'm having a crappy day. And who really wants to go buy a new spring wardrobe for their bigger self? Someone needs to sit me down and say "Listen, Big Girl: It's time to hit the gym." I love you and I promise, I still love me too!

Great.

Saalgirah Mubarak Anoka!

Anoka's birthday dinner at the home/studio on Saturday, featuring an amazing Indian food pot-luck and a scrumptious little lad named Gian-Giacomo. We feasted on Anoka and David's fish curry, peas pulao ala Martin, saag paneer ala Wolf (thanks to miss Mansi for her recipe), a killer salad by Gian-Martin and Sondra (the swiss parents of the swiss baby), samosas and flourless chocolate cake. Yummy food and an even more yummy little dude, my new 2-year old friend.
