The Gershey nuptual activities officially begin today, with the arrival of family and eve of the wedding dinner. But we decided to kick things off Wednesday night at Graffiti, Chef Jehangir Mehta's restaurant in the East Village. As Iron Chef fans, we realized that Mehta is all of our favorite contender on the Next Iron Chef. Chef Mehta was there and made sure our dinner was lovely, the place is so small and packed to the gills and still he was so attentive to all and our amazing dishes were served personally by either himself or his sister, which were small tasting/sharing plates loaded with flavor and textures somewhat Indian, but more fusion. When we left the restaurant, Mehta followed us outside, handed Brian a bottle of champagne, and said "Congratulations on your wedding my friends. Be very happy and please come back and see us soon". It was the sweetest gesture ever. We love Chef Mehta and will wrap up the action packed weekend with the 9pm Sunday final episode where hopefully he wins the title of Iron Chef. Either way being on the show has brought droves to his intimate little postage stamp on 10th street.. He is sure to feel fulfilled and have a very long rock star career. Just look how happy the bride and groom are after all the food and kindness! Thanks Chef Mehta for such a splendid night.
